Terms of Service
Last updated 12 October 2026
Plain-English terms for using DottsPay. Please read them before you start accepting payments.
1.About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Hiddekel Labs, the company behind DottsPay (“DottsPay”, “we”, “us”). They apply when you create an account, use the dashboard, payment links, hosted checkout or API, or otherwise use our services.
If you sign up on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are allowed to bind that business to these terms. In these terms, “you” means you and that business.
2.What DottsPay does
DottsPay helps you accept payments from your customers through payment links, a hosted checkout page and an API. We work with licensed payment processing partners to process those payments, and settle your share directly to the bank account you give us.
DottsPay is not a bank and does not hold deposits. Some payment methods, currencies and features may not be available to every business or in every country.
3.Your account
- You must give us accurate, complete information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including actions by team members you invite.
- Keep your password and API secret keys safe. Tell us straight away if you think they have been exposed, and rotate the affected keys.
- You must be at least 18 years old to open an account.
4.Verification and going live
You can use test mode as soon as you sign up. Before you can accept real payments, we need to verify your identity and your business. This is required by law and by our payment partners.
We may ask for documents such as business registration details, identification for directors or owners, proof of address and your bank account details. We may decline or withdraw live access if we cannot verify you, or if your business falls outside what we or our partners can support.
5.Acceptable use
You agree not to use DottsPay to:
- break any law or regulation, including anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing and sanctions laws;
- sell illegal goods or services, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights;
- process payments for a business other than your own without our written approval;
- mislead customers about what they are paying for, or charge them without their consent;
- interfere with, probe or overload our systems, or try to get around our security or limits.
We keep a list of restricted and prohibited business types and may update it from time to time.
6.Fees
You pay a fee on each successful transaction. The fee is made up of the processing cost plus DottsPay’s fee. Current rates are shown on our pricing section and in your dashboard.
You can choose whether you or your customer pays the fee. Fees are deducted before settlement. We will give you reasonable notice before we change our fees, and the new fees apply to transactions after the change takes effect.
7.Settlement
Your share of each payment, after fees, is settled to the bank account you add, on our payment partners’ settlement schedule. Make sure your bank details are correct. We are not responsible for funds sent to a wrong account you gave us.
We or our partners may delay, hold back or reverse a settlement where we reasonably suspect fraud, a breach of these terms, a high risk of chargebacks, or where the law requires it. Where we can, we will tell you why.
8.Refunds, chargebacks and disputes
You are responsible for your refund policy and for handling customer complaints about your goods or services. You can issue refunds from your dashboard or the API.
If a customer disputes a payment with their bank, you agree to respond with evidence in good time. If a chargeback is decided against you, the amount, and any related fees, may be deducted from future settlements or recovered from you.
9.Test mode
Test mode is for building and trying things out. No real money moves in test mode, and test data may be deleted at any time.
10.API and developer use
- Use the API only as described in our documentation, and stay within published rate limits.
- Keep secret keys on your server. Never put them in a mobile app, browser code or a public repository.
- Verify the signature on every webhook before you act on it.
- We may change the API. We will try to give notice before breaking changes to the current version.
11.Data and privacy
We handle personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. For your customers’ data, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to collect it and for telling them how it will be used, including that it will be shared with us to process their payment.
12.Suspension and closing your account
You can close your account at any time, after any pending refunds, chargebacks and fees are settled. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we are required to by law or our partners, or if your account poses a risk to us, our partners or your customers.
Some obligations continue after your account is closed, including those about fees, chargebacks, liability and data we must keep by law.
13.Disclaimers and liability
We work hard to keep DottsPay available and accurate, but the service is provided “as is”. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error free, and we are not responsible for outages at banks, card networks or other third parties.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period.
You agree to cover our losses caused by your breach of these terms or your use of DottsPay in breach of the law.
14.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in your dashboard before it takes effect. If you keep using DottsPay after that, you accept the new terms.
15.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes will be handled by the courts of Lagos State, unless the law says otherwise.
